Pastors Paragraphs
I recently had the opportunity to attend a pastor’s retreat at Alethia church in Sedona, AZ. It was only a one-day event and could hardly be considered a retreat. But the topics of discussion were challenging and good. Upon arrival we were given a journal and some papers and in those was a card with a picture of a glacier on it. Now we don’t often see something like this living in the dessert of Arizona but on the back of the card were several questions that we looked at throughout the day. Question one was “What’s below the surface that no one sees or knows?” On the card the picture shows a little piece of the glacier on top and under the surface of the water shows a whole lot more. Another question was, “What consumes the majority of my thought life, feelings, attitudes or actions? Good or bad, positive or negative, pleasures or worries? These are all good questions and ones that make you take a closer look at yourself and how you are handling and dealing with these things.

These questions are a reminder that the pastor is just like anyone else and has the same type of concerns and issues in his own personal life to deal with as any other member of the church or society. I take these questions seriously and try to evaluate if I am answering them in a healthy and honorable way. Sometimes I can say yes, I am and other times I have to say no I am not. Thankfully the Lord recognizes that we are all still in the flesh, and the wonderful thing is that we have his word and the Holy Spirit to comfort us when we fail him, ourselves, and each other. As the end of the year begins to get busy, it is easy to overlook what is really going on in your life, so, I challenge you to stop for a moment and look at what is it in your life that you are dealing with that no one knows about and ask the tough question if you are dealing with it in the correct way. Remember (Philippians 4:6-7) “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

If you are dealing with something and feel like you need someone to talk to please feel free to reach out to me

WMU (Women’s Missionary Union)
Here it is December again. The end of 2022 on the near horizon.

Our WMU meeting this month will be held on the 22nd at 10 AM. This meeting will be held in the old Koinonia room near the front of B building. At that time we will be preparing Christmas cookie trays for our Shut-ins. If you know of anyone we should deliver a tray to, please let me know, or give the information to Linda in the office. We will be collecting needed cookies, fruit, nuts, candy and other items for these trays. They can be brought in by nine that morning, or left with Linda by Wednesday. We’re meeting there because the seniors will be setting up in the Fireside room for lunch.

You may notice that the basket in the foyer is now set to collect items for the Chino Homeless Kids. We will have flyers with items you may bring to help support this mission.

December begins the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. This offering supports international missionaries ministering around the world. With the first of the year, we should be on a more regular schedule, probably the second Thursday of the month. God Bless You All for your help!

AMAZING GRAYS – Senior Ministry

We are meeting again!

Our meeting day is always the 4th Thursday of the month, and we meet from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

We plan field trips, luncheons, picnics, and do a Valentine Dinner for you and your Sweetie.

Our first meeting was held on September 27, 2022, it was a potluck for Fall Harvest. We had a lot of soups and bread. A good time was had by all.

We discussed whether to cancel our November and December meetings and decided to check on possibly sharing a meeting day with the Women’s Ministry Union (WMU), since the schedule for the Holidays is always so busy. What with Thanksgiving and Christmas falling on the last Thursday of the Month.

We met on November 10th with the WMU Ladies and helped them to pack 93 boxes for the Operation Christmas Child program. Afterwards we shared a lite luncheon with them.

For our December meeting, we will be meeting on the 22nd, to help pack the cookie trays for our church shut ins. So please get out your favorite cookie recipes, bring them along, with your freshly baked cookies and join us for our Christmas luncheon. (I know from the past how grateful Mark and I were to receive the wonderful platter of goodies that the WMU and FSBC provided). Please bring your ideas to share for the Valentine Dinner.

We need to work on our Valentine Dinner plans and will be having a meeting in January, on the 26th to finalize our plans for our Valentines Dinner, on Feb 11, 2023.
