Welcome to First Southern Baptist Church of Chino Valley. We are a fellowship of believers who seek to love and honor God, teach, believe and practice His word, and love people. We exist to Magnify the Word of God and Mobilize the People of God to carry out the Great Commandment to love the Lord our God and love our neighbor as ourselves, (Matthew 22:36-40) and to fulfill the Great Commission to make disciples, baptize them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and to teach them to obey everything Jesus commanded us (Matthew 28: 18-20). We are a Southern Baptist Church. Our participation in the Cooperative Program of Mission Giving is what distinguishes us from other Baptist Churches. We join together with 40,000 other Southern Baptist Churches to supply resources for what is the largest mission organization in the world. We are an independent church, determining our own beliefs and practices under God’s leadership. We are a compassionate church, accepting all people for who they are, where they are, meeting each person at their point of need with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are a growing church. God is adding to our numbers as we seek to keep up with our growing community. Ours is a family church with programs and ministries for all ages.

I have been a Pastor for over 30 years. I was called to full-time Christian service in 1976, after a radical conversion in 1975. After God delivered me from the drug culture and a multitude of addictions, He began to work in my life to help others with a similar background. In 1976 I enrolled at Grand Canyon College (now University) where I graduated in 1980 with a BA. I am an Arizona native. My wife Carolyn and I were married in 1980. In 1981, we moved to Louisville KY for me to attend Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I received a Masters of Divinity Degree in 1984. Carolyn received her Teaching Degree in 1981 from A.S.U., and her Masters of Educational Leadership from N.A.U. She is the Principal at Del Rio Elementary School here in Chino Valley. We have been blessed with two wonderful children and grandchildren. God has blessed me with an extraordinary family. We have been here in Chino Valley since 1997 and have grown to love the people and the area.
